Şifa Girinci (b. 1985, Muğla) currently lives and works in Istanbul. She graduated from Muğla Fine Art School in 2003 and completed her BA at Anadolu University in Fine Arts in 2007. She has exhibited internationally, including the UK, Germany and Turkey.

“I based my works upon the concept of Praising the Impulse. Praising the impulse means ‘negation’. It is a negation of assumptions and forms of sociology, psychology and economics. Let’s think: which one of the social science theories can explain farmer Cain murdering Abel the shepherd?

One of my methods of explaining worldly events is through images and real data. I produce works in various forms such as stone sculpture, text and video as well as painting and neon.”
